The old Malt Kiln, Louth.

I went to Louth to take a look at the Railway Station that has been disused for many years now.  It was on the Great Northern Line, the last section was closed by BR in 1980.  The station exterior has been preserved but internally it is now a development of private flats.  Still an attractive building in the Great Northern architectural style but not  a lot to photograph.  However, right next to it is the long deserted and quite derelict Malt Kiln building which is a landmark for Louth and can be seen for miles around Lincolnshire.  I was there late afternoon on a freezing cold day, with setting sun giving it a golden glow on one side but  very cold blue tones on the shadow side.  Also a new development of houses adjacent to it were casting strange shadows from the setting sun.  The malt building is allegedly full of asbestos which makes demolition quite difficult and expensive so it will be there for a long time yet, however I'm pleased to have got a record of it for future reference.

On the rear of the building the tones, and atmosphere
were very different.

Golden glow from the setting sun.

Almost end of the daylight.

For any photographers interested, all these photographs of the Malt kiln were taken
with a Panasonic Lumix FZ150 camera.
